Exactly 40 years ago, on 31 March 1982, the Lufthansa story in Cyprus commenced. On that very day, the first Lufthansa flight took off from Frankfurt with a Boeing 727 heading for Larnaca Airport. That is when the Lufthansa success story began. The flight number LH 614 was scheduled twice weekly with an onward flight to Amman, Jordan. Only two years later, Lufthansa offered a twice-weekly service to Larnaca as final destination. In 1986, a second route was added from Munich to Larnaca, extending the connection between Cyprus and Germany.
Today Larnaca International Airport welcomes five different carriers of the Lufthansa Group, offering 56 weekly departures to twelve destinations across Western Europe. Lufthansa, SWISS, Edelweiss, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings – they all offer nonstop flights to connect guests from Cyprus to the World and at the same time to fly in tourists and leisure traveler to the Mediterranean Island.

Lufthansa Airlines are operating with modern and sustainable aircraft. The aviation group is pursuing many further projects to reduce the CO2 emissions.
Lufthansa Group is moving forward initiatives to produce more Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and purchased $250m for its own consumption for this year. All passengers can now easily offset their emissions while booking the flight with Compensaid.
